The National Metalsmiths Hall of Fame award recognizes outstanding contributions and consistent
support of the arts. The award is presented in four categories - Artist, Arts Educator, Arts Patron, and
Business Patron.
Nominations are open to individuals or couples and businesses in North America, with the
exception of previous award recipients. Anyone may submit a nomination.
A selection committee consisting of active artists, educators, art administrators, professionals, and prior Hall of Fame recipients, will make selections in the categories listed. These selections will be based on the significant impact and outstanding contributions made in the development
and perpetuation of the metalsmithing industry and related fields, artistically and/or technically.
Contributions may be in the form of services, innovations, time and/or funds, commencing with the 20th century.
q ARTIST: Individuals who have consistently produced works of art, including designers.
q ARTS EDUCATOR: Individuals in teaching roles in private or public schools, nonprofit organizations or private lessons; those in arts management positions such as directors, curators, marketing/development, etc.
q ARTS PATRON: Those that support the art of metalsmithing by volunteering, collecting, exhibiting, financial contributions or any other means of support.
q BUSINESS PATRON: Those not falling into any of the above categories, however meeting the criteria as described above, and making a major contribution to the field of metalsmithing.
NOTE: The selection committee reserves the right to change the category of a nominee if they judge it to be appropriate and beneficial to the nominee. Governmental entities are not eligible for
nomination.
Nominations must be:
1. Typed, double-spaced, complete and specific.
2. Be postmarked no later than June 30, 2010
3. Contain information on the following areas:
(a) In your own words explain why you think nominee should receive this award, including greatest accomplishments and contribution to the arts.
(b) Cite examples of support or leadership provided to the art community,
including innovative or creative events, programs or materials that the nominee has been involved with or developed, volunteer efforts, financial contributions, honors, awards, etc. Please include dates, if possible.
Additional material such as news articles, reviews, etc. is recommended.
