Chasing and Repousse
Instructor: Thomas & Kay Benham

Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 & 8, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
We will perform introductory exercises and projects that will introduce and reinforce basic techniques of the discipline. Surface and background textures will be demonstrated as well as ways to patina and color the metal of the finished jewelry. The workshop will feature low relief chasing and repoussé skills as well as demonstrating how to generate large relief or high volume work such as faces or animal subjects. Chasing and Repousse

There is a $20 supply fee payable to the instructor.

Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12 & 13, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
This two day workshop will involve learning the principles of tying complex two dimensional knots (the Prolong Knot) in pure silver forming a bracelet on day 1 and 3 dimensional (the Turk's-head knot) work for a ring on day 2. Students can expect to leave with at least one of each completed bracelet and ring. After the work is done, there will be demonstrations for use of the same techniques to produce other items. Open Studio at Morean Arts Center:

The studio is open on Wed. from 10 to 5, Saturdays 11 to 4. (It is advisable to check in advance if there is a monitor available on Saturdays before making the trip.)

Casting open studio is on the third Saturday of the month with Jim Thobe. Anyone may contact Ron Jones (rljmtj@aol.com) for information regarding open studio

The Open Studio is for work on individual projects and not a "teaching" time. Those who do not have their own studios will have tools and equipment available. Those who do have their own studios and want the camaraderie of the open studio should bring their own tools. Equipment is available. There is a fee per use, per person, that is payable to Morean Arts Center. Please contact them at (727) 822-7872 for more details.
